Why Choose Georgia Vein Specialists?
Below is a series of questions to ask before choosing a clinician to perform your vein procedure.

Is the medical staff performing my procedure well trained?

Our physicians are board-certified and fellowship-trained:

Dr. Ashutosh Rao is Board Certified in the diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment of vascular diseases. Dr. Rao earned his medical degree from the Emory University School of Medicine and completed his fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the Harvard University School of Medicine where he also was appointed a faculty member.

Dr. Glenn Kerwin founded GVS and is Board Certified in the diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment of vascular diseases. Dr. Kerwin earned his medical degree and completed his fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the Emory University School of Medicine where he served as a faculty member. Dr. Kerwin is a member of the American College of Phlebology.

Our physician assistant is medically trained and a licensed healthcare provider:

Windy Lester, PA, is an Interventional Radiology physician assistant at GVS.  She is a medically trained, licensed healthcare provider.  Windy obtained her MS in Allied Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  She is an active member of the Society of Interventional Radiologists (SIR), Georgia Academy of Physician Assistants (GAPA) and the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). As part of the GVS physician-directed medical team, Windy examines patients, treats spider veins, and provided education.

Who will perform my vein mapping?
At GVS, only a physician will perform your vein mapping. At many other practices, an ultrasound technologist performs the exam and another person interprets the study. This method could lead to a missed or wrong diagnosis. At GVS, our own board certified physicians perform ultrasound diagnostic testing. Leading experts (such as Robert Min, M.D. of Cornell Vascular, one of the developers of laser vein treatment) advocate the physician who performs the vein treatment should also perform the ultrasound.

Who will perform my sclerotherapy?
Drs. Kerwin and Rao and the physician assistant perform the sclerotherapy procedures.
